6.7" x 60" TriColor
How many times have you heard that in order to get your message across you have to be heard above the rest of the crowd. The same is true visually if you want to be noticed and get your message across, you must be seen. With these bright LED Signs you will draw attention to your message and since these units are programmable you will be able to change your massage as often as you would like. Each sign has the ability to store from 14 to 150 messages for later use.
We will look at how to operate a LED Sign. Specifically, this is a 40" wide x 6" tall LED sign that is capable of one or two lines of text display, plus graphics. This is also a 3 color LED sign, (red, green, yellow) which gives a nice selection of colors to choose from when displaying your messages.
I have found it helpful to purchase a 2 gig USB drive and install the software on to the USB drive. You can also store your graphics on the same drive. This makes the software and graphics for the sign portable and protects you from lost data if your main computer crashes.
A nice feature of this sign is that you can control one or hundreds of signs using your intranet. Controlling multiple signs via an Intranet requires the IP/TCP add-on kit.
The supplied software is designed to let you use your own graphics and combine them with the animations inherent to the sign software. If you choose to use your own graphics you'll be glad to know that working with graphics this size is easy.
The first thing I did was to install the software and connect the supplied cord (RS232 Serial Cable) to the sign and the pc. With the software installed and the sign connected to the pc I was able to send my first test message to the sign via the Message Editing software. Having a test message or two allows you to experiment with the LED Sign and try different functions.
Let's also talk briefly about the remote control. The remote control is adequate for entering text messages into your LED sign. However, if you're looking to use the more advanced features of this sign I would recommend using a pc to control it. Using the supplied software you are able to combine graphics and text along with the various actions, fonts and colors.
Next I created a graphic 128 x 16 px in PSP then opened up the Message Editing sign software, made a new file and loaded the new graphic into the file, added an effect or two which created a very nice looking message. When working with the graphics for this size of LED Sign it is Important to make your graphic exactly 16px high otherwise you could receive an error notice when transmitting the message file to the LED sign.
Watch These Videos Of Sign Programming
Here are a couple examples of some signs and the graphics that were used and how they look incorporated into the LED sign.
In the above sign these are the graphics that were used. Any jerky motion is due to the video quality, the LED sign moves evenly.
You will also notice especially the red color is washed out in the video, LED's and digital images (photos or video) don't record well. The colors in the LED sign are as pictured in the graphics below.
You may copy these free 128px x 16px graphics if you can use them.
You'll notice that your signs comes with mounting brackets. These mounting brackets can be used for hanging or wall mounting your LED sign.
This first example is of hanging the sign from a couple of j-hooks. These are easy to install as they just screw into the wood window frame.

Remove Left End Cap to Install T-Brackets
To install the t-brackets you must remove the left (standing in front of the LED Sign) end cap. This will give you access to the top rail into which you will slide the t-brackets.
If you are planning to wall mount your sign you will slide the t-brackets into the two rails on the back of the sign housing. In both cases top or back mounting please use the tiny screws to secure the t-bracket so they don't slide around.
These are the parts needed to wall mount your LED sign. These t-brackets slide into the rails on the back side of the sign housing then are secured in place with the small screws. see below image
Wall Mounting Parts
Notice the image to the left you will see the small screws that secure the t-brackets to the rails.
The large U shaped bracket is made for mounting to the wall. You could use toggle bolts or you could secure into a wall stud. The adjustability of the t-brackets will aid in the best placement of the wall brackets.
Once the t-brackets are positioned to match the large U brackets secure the t-brackets with the small screws. You can then use the large screws to fasten the sign and the wall brackets together.
