Either you've come here because you're looking for better quality yard lights or your last yard light purchase was disappointing in performance. Sure you may have saved a few dollars and that felt good then but now you're back to purchasing another set of yard lights because you forgot the old axiom"You Get What You Pay For". These fluorescent yard lights (barn light) are made with a heavy duty metal die cast aluminum housing and maybe used for area lighting applications. Many so called yard lights are made from plastic and therefore do not have a good method of heat dissipation which harms the performance of such fixtures. So while a plastic fluorescent yard/barn area light may be a little less expensive you will be better served with metal fixtures. An optional 19" fixture arm is available for those applications where one is needed. Additionally if you decide you would like more light output an 85 watt replacement lamp is available. These area lights are made to be used in work areas, garages, sheds, yards, parking lots, driveways and barns. If you replace your old 175 watt mercury vapor pole light, you will conserve 110 watt per fixture due to the efficiency of these compact fluorescent yard lights. Around 1936 the Rural Electrification Act was passed. Then only 10% of rural Americans had access to electricity and as such development of rural communities was hindered.
