Shat-R-Shield offers a variety of plastic-coated, shatterproof fluorescent lamps. Fluorescent
lamp types include Standard,
High Output, Very High Output, U-Shaped, Reduced Mercury,
Black Light and Gold Lamps. All Shat-R-Shield fluorescent lamps are coated from end to end with our exclusive patented coating.
If a lamp is dropped or broken, virtually all glass, phosphors and mercury are safely contained
within our coating. Our coating contains antioxidants and an ultraviolet stabilizer to prevent
yellowing, cracking or flaking. The ultraviolet stabilizer in the coating blocks ultraviolet
emissions from 180 to 390 nanometers. The coating reduces light output by less than 1%. The
minimum thickness is 16 mils thick.Shat-R-Shield lamps are USDA approved and meet FDA and OSHA standards. Lamps should not be installed in areas where ambient temperatures could exceed 120°F. Shat-R-Shield lamps are 100% inspected for coating thickness, integrity and lighting performance. Shat-R-Shield linear fluorescent lamps are available in all sizes and Kelvin temperatures. In full wattage, energy-saving, preheat, preheat-rapid start, rapid start, instant start and slimline linear versions.
Shat-R-Shield High Output Fluorescent Lamps for non-refrigerated areas combine the high heat-resistant properties of DuPont TEFLONŽ with the strength and cost-effectiveness of our Shat-R-KoteŽ coating. A special formulation of TEFLONŽ seals the cathode lamp end where the greatest heat is generated, while the Shat-R-KoteŽ coating seals the center.
VHO lamps operate at higher wattages, burn at higher temperatures and emit up to 2.5 times as much light as regular fluorescent lamps. Until now, protective-type VHO lamps have been inadequate at truly providing safety. The plastics used in the past were unable to withstand the high temperatures, especially at the cathode ends of a VHO lamp. The plastic became brittle, burned and cracked, leaving the protective covering inadequate to contain the glass, phosphors and mercury if the lamp was ever broken.
Shat-R-Shield's VHO/TSC and VHO/LT/TSC type lamps use our patented TSC (TEFLONŽ/Shat-R-KoteŽ Combination) plastic coating process. They are safe and shatter-resistant, because this plastic combination can reliably withstand the extreme temperatures emitted by a VHO fluorescent lamp. Our VHO/LT/Jacketed lamp uses a shatterproof plastic jacket, instead of breakable glass - which is traditionally used.
U-Shaped fluorescent lamps are designed to emit more light from a smaller amount of space. Best utilized in ceiling lighting, these U-Shaped lamps come standard with Shat-R-Shield's quality, shatterproof plastic coating.
These lamps are manufactured to meet the Toxic Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP) established by the U.S. EPA. They contain the lowest mercury content on the market.
Shat-R-Shield has developed another "first" in fluorescent lamp safety with a specially formulated coating for black lights. The coating utilizes ultraviolet stabilizers to prevent degradation of the coating while also allowing critical ultra-wavelengths to pass through the coating. The new coating was designed to make insect attraction devices safe to use near processing lines where they were originally prohibited because of the danger of breaking glass. Available in both BL and BLB types.
These lamps block all ultraviolet, plus light emissions up to 530 nms. They are ideal for use in cleanroom environments, microchip production and any other photosensitive applications. These lamps provide the maximum UV blockage available while providing high light output. They are also competitively priced with bare, unprotected gold lamps. The coating is also metal-free and the gold pigment is made from organic materials.
*T-12, T-10, T-8 and T-5 sizes available.
If the lamp is broken, virtually all glass, phosphors and mercury are safely contained within the coating.
Shat-R-Shield plastic-coated, shatterproof lamps are UL and NSF certified for environmental and public safety.
Skin-tight plastic coating - not a sleeve. A sleeve can allow dust, oil and heat build-up, which causes lower lumen output and premature lamp burnout.
Standard coating has UV stabilizers to block ultraviolet emissions up to 390 nms.
Coating will not yellow, crack or flake.
Light output loss is less than 1%.
Even an 8 lamp can be easily installed by one person.
Safe installation & disposal - you never touch bare, unprotected glass.
Available in all sizes, colors and Kelvin temperatures.
Our lamps are 100% inspected for coating thickness, integrity and lighting performance.
Helps your company achieve its HACCP goals.
