These lamps are the most efficient source of pure white light available. They provide good color rendering and are used in high quality outdoor lighting installations, as well as floodlighting, industrial high bay and many commercial applications.
Protective Shrouded -
The combination of Shat-R-Shield's shatterproof coating on a protective shrouded lamp
offers the greatest possible protection on the market. On rare occasion metal halide lamps
can suffer "non-passive failure" (arc-tube rupture). This is possible no matter which lamp
manufacturer you choose.
Standard & High Output -
The most common HID lamps used today, with the added bonus of Shat-R-Shield's shatterproof
plastic-coating.
Energy Saving -
Shat-R-Shield also offers the cost saving advantages of energy saving lamps. Our 360 watt lamps
cost more than traditional 400 watt metal halides, however, the 360 can be used in standard 400
watt fixtures, will deliver nearly the same lumens as the 400 lamp (97% lumens) and save you 40
watts in energy usage. Over the 20,000 hour average rated life of the lamp, the 360 watt lamp
can save $80.00 in operating cost.
Pulse Start -
These lamps are newly designed and require an external ignitor, they will not retrofit into a
standard fixture. The pulse start advantages include a more transparent arc tube over life
yielding less color shift and higher lumen maintenance. Their hot restrike time is 5-7 minutes
compared to 10-12 minutes for standard lamps.
Self-Extinguishing -
These lamps are designed to self-extinguish if the outer bulb is broken, to prevent long term
exposure to UV emissions from the lamp if it continues to burn. The lamps are recommended and
sometimes required for use in schools, sports facilities and other places of public assembly
where the lamps may be subject to breakage by external objects.
Retrofit -
These lamps are made to operate on HPS ballasts. They provide crisp white light with 85%+
lumen maintenance. No shut-off required. Ideal for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week operation
(Relamp at or before the end of rated life of the lamp). Passes EPA's TCLP test for non-hazardous
waste.
These lamps are the most efficient source of high intensity light and are also available in non-cycling versions. Their efficiency is up to 140 lumens per watt and the light produced is a warm golden color. Because of their yellow light output they are frequently used in streetlighting and other areas where color rendering is not critical. (Although they are not quite as energy efficient, metal halide is generally used when pure white light is needed)
HPS Standard & HPS EcoSafe -
Shat-R-Shield's plastic-coated, shatterproof HPS lamps are available from 35 to 400 watts
in both clear and diffused. The EcoSafe lamps have been tested for and pass the Federal TCLP
requirements for non-hazardous waste. EcoSafe lamps have identical performance rating to the
standard HPS lamps they replace.
HPS EcoSafe Non-Cycling -
These environmentally friendlier lamps have a longer life (30,000 hrs. vs 24,000) than the regular
EcoSafe or standard HPS lamps. They contain a non-cycling end of life indicator which causes the l
ight color to change to a bluish white hue when it is time to change the lamp. You are not left in
the dark. All lamps operate on existing HPS ballasts for corresponding wattages.
Dual Arc -
These lamps contain a dual arc tube. In a single arc tube high pressure sodium lamp the arc
tube must cool before re-igniting after a power loss. With a dual arc tube lamp the second tube is
cool and is able to immediately begin to light when the power is restored. This is especially
valuable for safety and security concerns in areas occupied by people where light is needed as
soon as possible after an outage. For applications where instant restrike is not required, rated
lamp life is 40,000 hrs.
Retrofit -
These lamps are designed to be used on all mercury vapor and metal halide ballasts of similar
wattage. This will enable the enduser to take advantage of the high lumen efficiencies of high
pressure sodium lamps.
Although many of these applications have been converted to the much more efficient metal halide and high pressure sodium lamps, we will still be able to satisfy the needs of your customers that still use these lamps.
