String Lights
Medium Base Light Strings with Suspensor - shown here

By far the most common light string is the medium base string. It uses a medium base bulb, the same size as your standard household of 60 or 75 watt bulb, but with less wattage. All of the medium base light strings have a socket spacing of 24 inches. The recommended bulb to use is our 11S14 bulb, which is rated for 8,000 hours so you don't have to change them so often. You can actually use any medium base bulb in these light strings depending on your needs. Just be sure to follow the Wattage Information listed on each light string information page.

Light Strings

The different ways to use these string lights is only limited by your imagination.

NOTE: In some applications, a cable should be used to support the weight of the light string. For long spans you should not let the weight of the string lights be supported by the light string itself. Please use professional installation through qualified persons.

The bulk string lights are commercial grade and come in bulk packaging, there are no plugs installed. All of these light strings are designed to be used outdoors and indoors.

Watts Per Circuit & Lamp Information

If you do not understand Watts Per Circuit you will need to seek out a qualified person to help you further. These products may represent possible shock or fire hazard if not installed properly. Please remember all products need to installed according to local and/or National Electrical Codes.

Watts Per Circuit
Watts per circuit is the maximum watts that you can have per string going to one circuit.

We will use the medium base 108' string as an example. (LSM24102P) This light string is rated for 1250 watts maximum run. To determine the maximum wattage bulb you can use if you ran the full 108' on one circuit, you divide the max. watts by the number of sockets on your string. In this case the light string has 50 sockets. So by dividing 50 into 1250 watts you will see that you can use no larger than a 25 watt bulb. You should not use lamps that are a higher wattage so that you stay below the light string maximum rated watts.

New LED Light String Bulbs
If you have a long run or a hard to reach light string you will be glad to know about this 50,000 hour lamp. Think of the lamp changes you will save comparge to standard lamps. Each lamp consumes only 1.4 watts so there is less heat and less energy consumption.

These lamps are rated up to 50,000 hours and have a 1 year warranty. LED technology allows for the highest energy efficiency ever in a light string lamp. How many of these new bulbs can you put on 1 light string circuit?

Using these lamps in your light string means that your string may be much longer than normal because of the reduced wattage.

Example: Using the above example of a 108' light string with a 11 watt lamp, the light string consumes 550 watts of energy. Using a 1.4 watt LED S14 lamp that light string would now consume only 70 watts of energy. You are still limited to the 1250 watts per circuit, however your light string can be slightly over 800' long instead of only 100'.

Another Example: Before now it has been impossible to use a 40 or 60 watt bulb in any light string because of the 25 watt maximum per socket rating. Now you can get the 60 watt light output by using cfl lamps and only have an 13 watt load on the socket. This means you can have a light string 108' long with the equivalent of a 60 watt bulb in each socket and only consume 650 watts. If you do the math using a standard 60 watt lamp would have consumed 3,000 watts, now your only consuming 650 watts.

Stringing The Lights
If you are stringing the light strings over an open area it is recommended that you use the light strings with the suspensor and use aircraft cable or something similar to string the lights with so that the electrical cord of the light string is not supporting the weight.
